Vicky YatesBoard of Director
Vicky Yates, a resident of Rockport, brings many years of experience in the mental health field having received numerous professional certifications including a B.S Degree in Mental Health Services from the University of Maine. Additionally, Vicky’s experience with a close family member’s addiction gave her much greater insight and awareness into this disorder than professional schooling could have provided. Living with the deep emotional struggles helping her loved one move towards recovery fueled her passion for the need of education and supports in our communities.
Vicky’s professional experience began at Mid-Coast Mental Health Center (MCMHC) in 1999 where she worked as an emergency service worker in the Crisis Services Department for 6 years. She then became and “Access Clinician” at MCMHC, coordinating care for clients and then a “Residential Care Specialist” where she worked with a team of professionals to monitor safety needs for individuals with psychiatric disabilities. From 2002-4, Vicky also worked as a “Time for Change Group Facilitator” for New Hope for Women where she ran groups with individuals arrested for domestic abuse. This role gave her access to knowledge of the criminal justice system and domestic violence issues.
Vicky is very passionate about what can be achieved when committed, caring individuals unite in their community to identify and address social challenges, such as substance abuse disorders.
Vicky feels deeply committed to giving her time, knowledge and personal experience in addressing the social effects of addiction disorders. She looks forward to working with a team of diverse individuals to explore and develop future programs that can support our communities in keeping with the mission with the Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition.
