CONNECTIONS
A newsletter of the Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition – Spring 2022

Our residences and staff are at the core of our work to create environments that connect people choosing recovery with the resources they need.

From the houses…
Happy Spring!
It’s been busy in the first three months of 2022! The Friends House provided housing and support to 13 residents and 1 child and 63 Washington provided support to 9 residents and 1 child. Additionally, both houses combined provided 1,425 bed nights, which is an increase of 14.25% from the same period last year.
Spring also brings many new success stories! Leo came to The Friends House in October, 2021. He struggled with stimulants and was headed down a dangerous path. Our staff welcomed Leo and helped him to develop a long range plan for his future. On November 29, 2021, Leo left for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. He graduated from the Marine Corps Boot Camp in February and is now on to his next phase of training and will be a full Fleet Marine by the summer. Congratulations Leo and Semper Fi!

63 Washington welcomed a new assistant house manager, Dara Hurt! Dara has worked for many years with mentally ill adults and most recently with troubled teenagers. We are thrilled to have Dara a part of our MCRC team!
Thank You!
We are so thankful for our generous donors! Due to your generosity, we are able to continue to make difference in responding to the addiction epidemic in Mid-Coast Maine.
We would also like to gratefully acknowledge several grants received this winter/spring, the Fisher Charitable Foundation, Agnes M Lindsay Trust and the Towne Fair Tire Foundation – they allow us to grow and evolve to support more residents with more resources and programs!
Sauna Anyone?

Benefits of using the sauna to detox are many, and studies show that continued use helps concentration, eases anxiety and continues to allow the body and mind to detox. When the mobile sauna lands in Rockland by the Harbor, participants can alternate steaming in the sauna with dipping in the cold Harbor water.
Construction Underway!
Due to our generous donors, improvements have started at The Friends House!
