MCRC Adds Two New Board Members
Midcoast Recovery is happy to announce our two new board members!
Danielle Ward and Sarah Biggs were voted to join our Board at our last meeting.

My name is Danielle Ward. I am formerly incarcerated and a woman in long-term recovery who has both lived and professional experiences with substance use and mental health, subsequently leading me into a robust career supporting others. After years of rehabilitation and personal healing, I can proudly say I am on the other side now giving back what was freely given to me.
I have recently graduated with an Associate’s degree in Mental Health and Human Service with a minor in Counseling as well as completing the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation certificate program from the University of Augusta. I am a CCAR recovery coach and Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist, currently working with the Treatment and Recovery courts within the Department of Corrections and community settings within Knox County. I also volunteer my services through the Coastal Recovery Community Center in Rockland.
Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition holds a special place in my heart. I had the chance to utilize Alyssa’s house at one point in my life. Because of that and the support that I received from the staff I was allowed to focus on my recovery, my needs, and wants while learning to live my life sober. I am forever grateful for that. It would be an honor to work so closely with the board members of the MCRC to help with new and continuous ideas that will support individuals and families who are dealing with addiction issues. I know firsthand that recovery is possible and I am determined to spread that hope to others.

Sarah spent most of her childhood growing up near Sebago Lake with in with her three sisters. Her family was deeply impacted on a multigenerational level by the disease addiction. Sarah is a nurse and her background is broad, she has cared for people as a newborn nurse, through the end of life as a home hospice nurse, and at many points in between. She currently works in addiction recovery and psychiatric nursing. Her work has deepened her understanding of the human experience and she is honored to provide care to vulnerable populations. The opportunity to be of service to others is something that she is grateful for. She looks forward to the possibility of joining the team at MCRC to support individuals and families in our community!
Sarah is in alcohol recovery herself and is on a lifelong journey of healing and growth. She loves to be on her farm, doing yoga, playing guitar, spending time with family, or riding her bicycle.
Both Danielle and Sarah add to the diversity of our Board which is extremely important to helping those in the Recovery Community and furthering our Mission.
MCRC is always looking for possible board members – please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested and feel you have the experience and drive to help those with Substance Use Disorder.
