Executive Director

The Executive Director is the management leader and has the primary responsibility for the overall operation of the organization. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization’s mission and annual goals and objectives.

Responsibilities 

Financial Performance and Sustainability

  • Research funding sources, submit proposals and maintain fundraising records to support programs and infrastructure.
  • Identify and maintain compliance for competitive grants and funds. This includes budget reports for submission to Board members that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Develop a financial strategy that ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position. Prepare monthly expense reports and financial statements.
  • Initiate and collaborate with auditor to provide annual financial statements and organization’s 990.
  • Initiate fundraising activities with staff and Board to support programming and overall operation of the organization.

Organization Mission and Strategy

  • Work with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic direction of the organization to ensure that the organization can successfully fulfill its mission.
  • Build collaborative relationships by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional and private organizations.
  • Serves as organizations spokesperson.

Organization Programming and Operations

  • Assures the organization and its mission, programs, and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image.
  • Manages the hiring and retention of staff.
  • Advising staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Oversee professional goal setting and support the professional development of staff.
  • Ensures complete and timely processing of payroll for staff.

Qualifications

  • An earned bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated record of administrative experience that provides a foundation from which to lead, inspire in achieving its goals.
  • Leadership experience in strategic and financial planning.
  • Track record in developing, implementing and evaluating programs and in grantsmanship and fundraising activities.
  • Strong public relations experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Experience building organizational culture and has knowledge of organizational behavior
